The Clippers will be selling eight "Star Courtside" seats next to the players bench for $175,000 next season.
The season-ticket purchase will come with access to all-inclusive team clubs, in-seat waiter service, valet parking, and a VIP entrance for all 43 home games during the 2017-2018 season, according to ESPN. The seats also are also positioned so they will appear on television.
Sporting News notes at that price, the tickets come out to about $4,070 per game. The Clippers organization has dubbed the seats "Star Courtside."
“It’s extremely rare to have space like this open in any arena,” Clippers President Gillian Zucker said, according to Bleacher Report. “What we did here was create new beachfront property.” The seats were created by breaking up the long scorers table and putting seats on the side.
According to CBS Sports, Zucker said current courtside ticket holders will have the first chance to buy the Star Courtside seats before they are offered to the general public.
The Clippers play in Los Angeles, home to many celebrities who often are seen attending games. It is expected other teams may offer similar seating arrangements if the Clippers’ experiment is a success.
Fans weighed the pros and cons of the seats on Twitter.
