Comedian Conan O’Brien is a fan of David Letterman's replacement, with the talk show host saying Stephen Colbert is the right person to take over “The Late Show.”
On a break from rehearsing for the MTV Movie Awards, which he hosted for the first time Sunday,
O’Brien said he was happy on his TBS talk show, telling Entertainment Weekly, “I get to do what I want.”

“I’m very happy where I am, but I love Stephen. I think Stephen is great,” O’Brien told EW. “I’m a huge fan of his as a comic and as a human being. I think it’s fantastic. I’m really glad that he got the job. I look forward to seeing his show.”
Some wondered if O’Brien wouldn’t be considered for the “Late Night” slot; he briefly took over “The Tonight Show” on NBC before the network brought Jay Leno back after just seven months.
“I’m glad that it’s the right person getting it,” O'Brien told EW, adding that he has "such respect for Dave."
When talking to Variety about all the shuffling of show hosts lately, O’Brien stayed true to his comedy roots when asked about whether he checks out his competition.
“I routinely enjoy all of the other late-night comedy shows, but the competition I fear the most is Larry King’s infomercial for the Amazing Omega XL Fish Oil Supplement,” he joked.
