Cory Monteith's Cause of Death: Heroin and Alcohol, Coroner Says

Actor Cory Monteith died of "mixed drug toxicity" including heroin and alchol, according to a report Tuesday the British Columbia Coroners Service. "Glee" star Monteith, 31, was found dead Saturday in his Vancouver hotel room.

Coroner Barbara McLintock stressed that the results showed nothing more than a tragic accident at this point.

Monteith's struggle with drug addiction had been documented in the past, and he went to rehab earlier this year.

Commenters on the YouTube announcement by the coroner were saddened by the news, but supported the late actor.

"We knew he was fighting his demons...we just didn't know he couldn't beat them...I still have all my respect for him because he tried," wrote Isistellachan.

"Even though it was drugs and people will be saying 'serves him right' no one deserves to die, especially at such a young age. Cory will be missed greatly by so many, and my thoughts go to his family, friends, and Lea. Rest In Peace," wrote Sherlockian Whovian.
