An Indiana couple has visited every Cracker Barrel in America except for one, traveling more than 5 million miles to do so.
Ray and Wilma Yoder, 80, started visiting different locations of the popular chain restaurant 40 years ago when Ray developed a preference for the chain eatery on his travels as an RV deliverer, and have now seen 644 of the 645 Cracker Barrels across the U.S., according to the Lebanon Democrat.
They have developed a following in their quest over the last 10 years or so, and now have only one more location to visit: the Tualatin, Oregon, store near Portland, Time reported.
The couple once visited eight locations in one day, sometimes ordering only coffee or buying candy from the store.
The Yoders claim to never have had a bad experience in any of the locations they’ve visited.
“It’s the same good service and great people wherever you go,” said Ray, Time reported.
The couple now gets a lot of attention for their visits, sometimes getting a gift basket from employees or being asked to pose for a picture, the Democrat reported.
Ray says he notices when items in the store are inconsistent with other locations, but he doesn’t say anything to employees. They always buy something and leave a tip anyway, he said, the Democrat reported.
The couple has visited several Cracker Barrels on their opening days, and now get information from the company about new stores opening, the Democrat reported.
The chain was started in 1969 as one store in Lebanon, Tennessee, which is still operating.
Not everyone thought the accomplishment was worthwhile, but some were inspired.
