Dane Cook has been banned from performing at The Laugh Factory in Hollywood after he and the owner allegedly had an altercation over how the comedian
spoke to a waitress, ET Online reported exclusively.
Cook has been performing at the popular comedy club for years and typically works on new material there. But a source told ET that the owner recently approached Cook about using vulgar, offensive language with a waitress. The two got into an argument and Cook reportedly said, “I own this place!”
But he doesn’t, and the source told ET that the owner then permanently banned him from the club. As of Thursday afternoon,
Cook’s bio was still on the club’s website.
In 2012, Cook made the news after he showed up unexpectedly at the Los Angeles Laugh Factory, bumped other scheduled comedians, and then launched into a set that comedian
A.J. Miller called “a vicious, misogynistic, cruel, and arrogant” performance.
Cook is still working at other comedy clubs, though, tweeting Thursday afternoon:
ET said Cook’s representatives have not responded to requests for a comment on the Laugh Factory situation.
Online, the news earned comments from many who weren’t fans of the comedian:
