A suspected drunk driver smashed through the front of a Texas home that was renovated on the HGTV show "Fixer Upper," causing major damage but not injuring the homeowners.
The accident occurred around 1 a.m. on Saturday morning, and police and fire crews found the driver, Allen Wayne Miller, 31, inside the car inside the home in North Waco when they responded to the scene, according to the Waco Tribune-Herald.
Officials said the car went airborne over the hedges and porch to smash into the front room and hit an interior wall. Homeowners Ken and Kelly Downs said that a brick fireplace relocated to the office during the renovation may have stopped the car from smashing through to the next room, where they slept, the Herald reported.
The house was nicknamed the "Three Little Pigs" house and appeared in season 3 of "Fixer Upper." The Downses have complained about the neighborhood and location of the house since moving in, saying that they could hear late-night noise from nearby bars and other suspicious activity nearby.
When they complained to police, other local residents and shop owners accused them of making their taxes go up because of the increased property values brought on by the renovation, the Herald reported.
"It's been a problem from the beginning," Kelly Downs said, People magazine reported. "We've lived here a year and a half and we feel deceived by the city of Waco and Magnolia Realty."
"It's a 'Fixer Upper' gone bad," she added. The Downses aren't sure at this point whether they will repair their home or move, the Herald reported.
