The "DuckTales" cartoon is set for a 2017 reboot on Disney XD, the cable channel announced this week.
The original "Duck Dynasty" — Uncle Scrooge, his three grandnephews Huey, Dewey, and Louie, and Donald Duck — graced the small screen from 1987 to 1990, and took home four Daytime Emmy Awards during its run. Upon the series conclusion, "DuckTales the Movie: Treasure of the Lost Lamp" was released in 1990.
"'DuckTales' has a special place in Disney's TV animation history," Marc Buhaj, Disney XD's senior vice president of programming and general manager, said in a statement,
ABC News reported.
"It drew its inspiration from Disney Legend Carl Barks' comic books and through its storytelling and artistic showmanship, set an enduring standard for animated entertainment that connects with both kids and adults. Our new series will bring that same energy and adventurous spirit to a new generation."
Reboots have become all the rage as of late, with many projects recently being announced for both the silver and small screens.
A 3-D reboot of "Poltergeist" is set for release in July, an all-female reboot of "Ghostbusters" is likely on the way, Disney may be considering "Guardians of the Galaxy"-star Chris Pratt for an "Indiana Jones" reboot, and Cartoon Network just last week confirmed a reboot of "The Powerpuff Girls" cartoon.
