Elisabeth Hasselbeck was
hassled by The Huffington Post and liberal nonprofit Media Matters for a tweet she posted Tuesday about the difference in calls for transparency in the NFL Ray Rice case compared to the Benghazi attack.
In it, the "Fox & Friends" host and former co-host of "The View" compared the NFL's lack of transparency regarding the Rice domestic abuse scandal to the Obama administration's lack of transparency regarding the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi which killed four Americans.
Ray Rice was suspended by the NFL for hitting his wife in an Atlantic City hotel elevator, however many reports surfaced this month saying league executives had seen footage from inside the elevator shortly after the incident occurred, in February. If this is true, Rice's previous punishment – a two-game suspension – would be seen by many as grossly insufficient, and call into question the good judgment and competence of league executives.

Many suspect a cover up by NFL execs, and have called for more transparency as to what the NFL knew shortly after the incident. Last week the league appointed an independent investigator to look into the matter and produce a public report in response to the allegations.
Similarly, many have accused the Obama administration of trying to cover up what may have been an insufficient response to the terrorist attack on an American diplomatic compound stationed in Benghazi, Libya, that took place on Sept. 11, 2012.
Originally under investigation by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, House Speaker John Boehner formed a Select Committee on Benghazi in May to further investigate what led to the death of four Americans stationed there. The bipartisan committee includes seven Republicans and five Democrats, and has its first public hearing on Wednesday.

Mother Jones wrote about the upcoming hearing on Tuesday using the headline "This GOP Benghazi Hearing Is Actually Worth Having." It seems that fellow liberal news sites The Huffington Post and Media Matters don't agree.
The Huffington Post took a condescending tone toward Hasselbeck, saying that Fox News is "obsessed" with Benghazi, and because Hasselbeck hosts the network's "Fox & Friends" she was throwing "another log on that fire." With sarcasm, the HuffPost writer told Hasselbeck "Well done!" for making the comparison.
Hasselbeck defended her comparison, however, saying that she has spoken to the mother of one of the men killed in the Benghazi attacks. She seemed to say in a follow-up tweet that all the families of the victims deserve to know what happened that fateful day in 2012.
