Ena Kadic, a former Miss Austria crown holder, died this week after a nasty fall while jobbing along the Bergisel mountain in her home state of Tyrol left her in critical condition on Friday.
The 26-year-old reportedly fell off the mountain near the former Olympic Games city of
Innsbruck on Friday, Agence France-Presse reported. The news agency said that Kadic was able to call her brother and tell him of the accident before she became unconscious.
Two students later found the beauty queen close to the Drachenfelsen panorama platform that overlooks the ravine of the Sill River. Kadic was transported by a helicopter to an Innsbruck hospital where she died on Tuesday.
Kadic won the Miss Austria crown in 2013 and she was an
avid runner, according to the Daily Mail.
Her death follows another former beauty queen's recent demise. One-time America Junior Miss Kiersten Rickenbach Cerveny, 38, was found unconscious in the doorway of a Manhattan apartment building earlier this month, and a medical examiner ruled this week that her death was the result of
"acute cocaine and alcohol intoxication," Philly.com reported.
Last November, CNN reported that Miss World Honduras Maria Jose Alvarado Munoz and her sister Sofia Trinidad Alvarado were found dead in a mountainous area near a river in Honduras after they had been missing for several days. The sister's boyfriend and another man were eventually arrested in connection with the deaths.
The sisters had disappeared earlier in November while going to a spa for a birthday party in Santa Barbara, near the capital of Tegucigalpa, police said.
