Somebody got away with eye shadow worth $4.5 million by sawing a hole in a warehouse roof back in January – then spending two nights packing it out  – Los Angeles poice said on Thursday.

The heist happened on Jan. 28 and Jan. 30 at a warehouse in Los Angeles' San Fernando Valley. Taken were more than 100,000 packages of Modern Renaissance eye shadow worth about $42 each, reported the Los Angeles Times. It's a line of Anastasia Beverly Hills-branded makeup.

LAPD spokesman Officer Tony Im said there was no surveillance camera evidence of the theft.

The Los Angeles Daily News noted that reality show star Kim Kardashian's name is associated with the brand and that Sephora cosmetics was selling the 14-shade Modern Renaissance eye shadow palette.

Anastasia Beverly Hills, which was founded in 1997, specializes in eye brows and eye makeup, according to its Facebook page. Founded by Anastasia Soare, Anastasia Beverly Hills says it has become popular with models and actresses.

KNBC-TV said representatives from Anastasia's corporate office hadn't commented on the theft.

Whoever did it got a lot of shoplifting out of  the way. MarketWatch reported in 2015 that makeup was the second most frequently stolen item, both in the United States and worldwide. Part of the reason is the products tend to be small and easy to pocket.

There was a wide range of comments on the pricey eye shadow theft on social media.
