A Florida robbery suspect made his apprehension easy for police after he left his wallet — identification and all — at the convenience store he tried to rob.
Police picked up Benjamin Alexander Shaw, 25, after he allegedly tried to rob a Circle K store in
Cape Canaveral on Monday, Fox News reported.
Florida Today said Shaw reportedly told the clerk to give him $40, threatening to go home and return with a gun if his orders weren't followed. Police had no trouble finding Shaw afterwards thanks to his wallet, which contained his ID. He was located, also found to be in possession of a pipe that contained cocaine, and subsequently arrested.
Surprisingly, Shaw isn't the only "dumb criminal" to leave ID at the scene of a crime recently. In Michigan, two men robbed a convenience store and were seen on tape forcing the clerk to fill a
bag with money, according to The Detroit News.
Unfortunately for the two men, one of them left his wallet on the counter. That suspect was reportedly in the store attempting to buy cigarettes when the clerk asked for his ID. When the second robber came in and pulled out a gun, the first suspect apparently forgot all about the wallet. Both were apprehended within hours of the incident.
