Actress Gina Gershon has morphed into Donatella Versace, pouty lips and all, for her new role in a Lifetime movie.
The dark-haired Gershon will play the bombshell fashion queen with the signature platinum-blonde hair in Lifetime’s upcoming movie, “House of Versace.” The movie chronicles Donatella’s fall and rise after the murder of her brother, acclaimed designer Gianni Versace. Serial killer Andrew Cunanan fatally shot Versace outside his Miami mansion in 1997.

The movie, based on the based on the book “House of Versace: The Untold Story of Genius, Murder, and Survival” airs Oct. 5.
To recreate Versace’s unique look, Gershon had cotton stuffed under her upper lip and wore plenty of makeup.
“Surprisingly enough we’ve never met, though we have a lot of mutual friends,”
Gershon told The New York Post. “I’ve played people [on-screen] before who are still living and I’ve always met them . . . but I’m kind of glad I never met Donatella,” she said.
“She’s certainly a larger-than-life character.”
The movie includes former bombshell Raquel Welch as Versace's aunt, Enrico Colantoni (“Veronica Mars”) as Gianni Versace, and Colm Feore as her brother, Santo.
“What I appreciate about this script — of course it’s Lifetime, and they tend to do ‘redemption’ stories — is that it’s focused more on Donatella’s family and what they all went through when Gianni died,” Gershon said.
“It’s such a compelling story about Donatella getting out from under her brother’s shadow — and, because of that shadow, also finding her own voice," she added.
Users had mixed reactions to the casting.
