The 58th Grammy Awards saw Taylor Swift take home her second award for best album, while "Uptown Funk," Meghan Trainor, and Ed Sheeran were honored for best record, best new artist, and best song, respectively.

USA Today reported that Swift responded indirectly but firmly to Kanye West's recent assertion that he made her famous by interrupting her on stage during her 2009 MTV Video Music Awards acceptance speech.

"There are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame," Swift said.

"But if you just focus on the work and you don't let those people sidetrack you, someday, when you get where you're going, you'll look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world."

During the evening, Lada Gaga paid tribute to the late David Bowie. She donned an orange wig, and belted out a medley of the space-rocker's classics, including "Changes," "Rebel Rebel," and "Let's Dance."

Under a single spotlight, Adele sang her new single, which was co-written by Bruno Mars, "All I Ask."

Some online critics said the singer was a bit off key at times, and the multi-time Grammy Award winner explained that there were technical difficulties related to the piano mics.

Broadway made a strong showing as well this year, with the cast of "Hamilton," the critically acclaimed hip-hop biography about Alexander Hamilton, doing the opening number from the show.

"The soonest I could get online was a Sunday matinee in 2018," Stephen Colbert said as he introduced the cast, joking about how tickets are always sold-out.

On the country and rap fronts, "Traveller," by Chris Stapleton, won Country Album of the Year, while "To Pimp a Butterfly" by Kendrick Lamar won best rap album, CNN reported.
