Making the rounds on the Internet Wednesday was an image captured from Facebook showing a new baby with the given name of Hashtag Jameson, named after the ubiquitous symbol of streamlined Twitter communication.
Usually, a hashtag appears as just #.
But if recording artist Prince can change his name to a symbol then, “Hashtag Jameson was born at 10 oclock last nite. She weys 8pounds and I luv her so much!!!!!!” read the caption on the photo. Below the sleeping infant, a spelling-challenged friend wrote, “Aww babes you finally had youre Tweetybird xxx”.

Speculation is flying on whether the name is real or just another Internet hoax. Another rumors says the entire thing is a promotional stunt for a certain brand of Irish whiskey.
The photo was first captured by awkwardmessages.com and quickly made the viral rounds for its apparent absurdity and relation to Twitter. For as many people who were smitten with the name, there were those ridiculing the mother for her lack of discretion.
A support community popped up on Facebook — "Justice for Hashtag Jameson" shortly after the baby name made its way around the Internet. The description of the community simply reads, “This poor child deserves a name.”
Posted on the page is a photo of a bib that reads, “No I’m Not On Twitter.”
According to TechCrunch, Egyptian families recently started naming their babies “Facebook” to commemorate the social media site that helped facilitate the Arab Spring revolution in January 2011.
And ZDnet reported an Israeli couple named a child after the “Like” button on Facebook. "We named her Like because it's modern and innovative," the couple said.
