Hubert Tang won $1 million in the California Lottery after finding a $20 bill on the ground outside San Francisco International Airport and using it to purchase two scratch-off tickets.

Tang, a bartender, purchased the tickets last week at a market in Millbrae, according to SFGate.com.

"I told my friend who I was with that I didn't know if this was real but, 'I think I just won a million dollars,'" said Tang, adding that it was the first he purchased a lottery ticket in 10 years. "For now I am just going to put it in savings."

Tang joked about spreading his success, said lottery officials.

"Maybe I'll start leaving $20 bills on the street in random places," said Tang.

Another lottery player might have run out of luck. No winner came forward earlier this year after purchasing a $1 million Powerball ticket, lottery officials told the Los Angeles Times. Someone needed to claim the winning ticket within 180 days, the limit officials can hold a ticket for a cash prize.

California Lottery officials announced Sunday another big winner in its Powerball game from a ticket purchased in Thousand Oaks for $1.2 million.

Lottery officials have not announced whether that winner, who purchased the ticket at a 7-Eleven convenience store, has come forward. The ticket matched the winning numbers of 25, 18, 29, 21, 28, missing only the Powerball number of 16.

Powerball is played in 44 states, the District of Columbia and the Virgin Islands. Winning numbers are drawn every Wednesday and Saturday.

The current Powerball jackpot, with the Powerball number, stands at $120 million, or a cash value of $76.6 million, according to the Powerball website.

There have been 12 Powerball winners so far this year, with the last announced winner, Tommy Rea, of Missouri, capturing a $70.1 million prize in July. There is a $110 million winner pending in California.
