ISIS reportedly is targeting controversial blogger Pamela Geller with a threat posted online.
The threat
posted on the message board Just Paste It singles out Geller and refers to the recent attack by two gunmen in Garland, Texas, for which the Islamic State has claimed responsibility.
“The attack by the Islamic State in America is only the beginning of our efforts to establish a wiliyah in the heart of our enemy. Our aim was the khanzeer Pamela Geller and to show her that we don't care what land she hides in or what sky shields her; we will send all our Lions to achieve her slaughter,” the post, titled “The New Era,” says.
Geller drew ire when she helped plan a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest. Two gunmen carrying assault weapons were shot to death by police at the "Draw Muhammad" event.
The online post says the group has 71 trained soldiers in 15 different states, 23 of whom have signed up for similar attacks. It also threatened anyone who protects Geller or “gives her a platform to spill her filth.”
“The next six months will be interesting,” the post says.
In an article published by Time magazine, Geller, president of the American Freedom Defense Initiative, held her ground and confronted those who have criticized her for provoking the attack.
“Some are saying I provoked this attack,” she wrote. “But to kowtow to violent intimidation will only encourage more of it.”
Twitter users had mixed reactions.
