Jason Jones announced that he will be leaving Comedy Central's "The Daily Show" to film a TV series for TBS.
"For 9 & 1/2 years, I have worked at one of the greatest TV shows of all time. But... It is time for me to go,"
he tweeted on Tuesday. The announcement came just two weeks after show host Jon Stewart announced that he would leave the show.
Jones' tweet came on the heels of a
report from Variety that TBS had ordered 10 episodes of the show he produced with wife and fellow "Daily Show" correspondent Samantha Bee.
"This show delivers on exactly the direction we are taking our TBS comedies — honest, smart and provocative," said Brett Weitz, executive vice president of original programming for TBS.
The show pilot was co-written by Jones and Bee and ordered in October of last year. Jones plays married father of two Nate, who navigates his family through a vacation trip gone horribly wrong.
Jones was reported to be departing later this year, while Bee will remain on "The Daily Show."
