Jennifer Hudson had a shoe thrown at her while performing on stage Friday, but instead of taking offense, the Grammy Award-winning singer took it as a compliment.
This comes after she did the same thing to "The Voice" contestant Chris Weaver on the season premiere Tuesday.
Throwing her own shoe on the stage during Weaver's blind audition, the singer said, "where I come from, that's a compliment, and we know at times when you sing like that, you better be prepared to what? Duck," Variety noted.
Hudson posted a video showing the shoe being thrown at her to Instagram, captioning it "I told my crew I said lord people r going to start throwing shoes at me after @nbcthevoice and yal that just what happened tonight ! I got my first shoe thrown at me tonight ! lol I could barely finish my song after this guy got done ! Lol to much ! I love it !! #boston"
She later shared another video clip of the fan who had thrown the shoe on stage.
"This young man from Boston college told me I blessed him but he blessed me just the same, if not more!" she captioned the post.
"Not only did he take his shoe off and throw it at me but He showed so much heart all the way from the crowd and I just wanted to give it right back! #bostonheights"
The shoe-throwing frenzy seems to be gaining in popularity and was even featured as a topic during Hudson's appearance on "Late Night with Seth Meyers."
Speaking to the show's host, Hudson said per The Daily Mail that it was the ultimate compliment in her books.
"If you move me enough that I remove my shoe to throw it at you, you have done something just amazing. It's equivalent to a standing ovation."
