Actor Jeremy Piven injured a biker Tuesday when he opened his car door into the cyclist's path near The Grove, a retail and entertainment location in Los Angeles.
According to TMZ, authorities told the celebrity gossip website that Piven, star of the former HBO hit series and movie "Entourage," had parked his vehicle, a 2015 CTS Cadillac, along a curb and "flung open the door."
"The 44-year-old man who was peddling along was badly hurt and taken to the hospital by ambulance," wrote TMZ. "Our cop sources say they believe Jeremy was at fault but he didn't get a ticket because cops didn't see it happen. We're told Jeremy was cooperative. The victim received stitches on his chest."
The Emmy and Golden Globe winner, 50, is currently starring in the ITV and PBS series "Mr. Selfridge," which started in 2013, and had a role in the 2014 Tom Cruise movie "Edge of Tomorrow,"
according to Biography.com.
The "Entourage" movie made $32.3 million domestically and $16.9 million overseas in theaters last year,
noted Box Office Mojo.
The Daily Mail reported that Piven said earlier this year that he was still feeling the effects of mercury poisoning that he suffered eight years ago. Piven was contaminated after eating "a lot of sushi," before 2008, forcing him to drop out of the Broadway production of "Speed-the-Plow," stated The Daily Mail.
Piven said that he has been undergoing a medical procedure called "chelating," a process that involves administering a form of acid to the body, which stops arsenic, lead, uranium, plutonium and other forms of toxic metal poisoning.
Earlier this year, travel expert Justin Ross Lee complained on Instagram and Piven kept texting his ex-girlfriend Kate Nardi to the extent of being "creepy,"
reported the New York Post's Page Six. Piven said he dated Nardi in 2013 but had not texted her since their breakup.
