Jerry Jones, Chris Christie Get Cozy at Cowboys Game; Twitter Loses It

By    |   Monday, 05 January 2015 07:30 AM EST

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie celebrated the Dallas Cowboys' big win Sunday night with Jerry Jones in an appearance that immediately lit up Twitter with insults and indignation.

Jersey doesn't have an NFL team, but football fans in the Garden State usually align with the nearby Jets, Giants, or Eagles. Considering the latter two teams are in the NFC East with the Cowboys, no one — except for Christie — would dare root for such a close rival.

But root he did — and in the owner's box no less.

A late-game touchdown by Dallas clinched a 20-24 victory over fellow wild card Detroit Lions, and there was the governor, group hugging with Jerry Jones. It was the Cowboys' first playoff game in five seasons, and fans couldn't have been happier.

Not happy were Christie's constituents, who took to Twitter to give the governor a piece of their mind.

In the end, Christie's brother stuck out his neck, telling the critics the governor has been a Cowboys fan his entire life.
