Newly married Jessa Duggar Seewald of TLC’s "19 Kids & Counting" says she and her husband want to adopt children.
"We hope to adopt a lot of kids," Jessa told People. "If God blesses us with biological kids of our own, it's not going to quench our desire to adopt."
The revelation was part of an interview with Jessa, 22, and husband Ben Seewald, 19, who talked about their honeymoon and their beliefs about relationships.
The couple appear on the cover of the March 2 issue of People.
“Jessa and Ben are still living in a newlywed bliss,” People reporter Patrick Gomez told ABC News. “He says that he cooks dinner for her and writes her love letters. He says he always tries to look at situations as though he were in her shoes and puts her up on a pedestal.”
The couple married Nov. 1 in a ceremony documented on the show, having their first kiss in private rather than at the altar. Seewald comes from a family of seven children, and Jessa is one of Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar’s 19 children.
Jessa’s older sister, Jill Dillard, is expecting her first child in March.
Fans cheered the news on the Duggar family Facebook page.
“I love that they want to adopt. An ultimate selfless thing. I may not share their values but their children have grown into lovely human beings,” Tessa Monchenser wrote.
“Adoption would be a great way to be blessed as opposed to having a ton of children. Lots of kids need something stable and loving. Foster care usually isn't it. This makes me happy!” Rachel Crews wrote on the page.
