Joan Tarshis became the fifth woman this week to come forward and accuse Bill Cosby of raping her on two occasions when she was younger.
On Sunday, Tarshis, 66, published an article on the website
Hollywood Elsewhere, going into detail about the alleged assaults.
"I was 19 years old in autumn of 1969. I had flown to Los Angeles from New York to work on a monologue with Godfrey Cambridge. Two women I was staying with were friends of Bill Cosby, and they took me to have lunch with him in his cottage at Universal Studios, where he was shooting 'The Bill Cosby Show.' He was always generous with his food and drinks, though he never drank alcohol. But he always topped my Bloody Marys with beer, which he called a 'redeye,'" she wrote.
"One day he asked me to stay after the shooting and work on some material with him. I was even more flattered and thought this would help move my writing career along. In his bungalow he made me a redeye . . . The next thing I remember was coming to on his couch while being undressed. Through the haze I thought I was being clever when I told him I had an infection and he would catch it and his wife would know he had sex with someone. But he just found another orifice to use. I was sickened by what was happening to me and shocked that this man I had idolized was now raping me. Of course I told no one."
In a second incident, she said Cosby brought her to his hotel room by limo, where she says she was drugged again.
According to NPR, Andrea Constand, Beth Ferrier, Tamara Green, and Barbara Bowman have all come forward, some very recently, to accuse Cosby of sexual assault in stories similar Tarshis'.
Constand appears to be the only one to have ever filed a lawsuit against the comedian. In 2005, she filed a lawsuit that claimed to have 13 women willing and ready to take the stand against him, however the suit was eventually settled out of court.
Cosby, 77, has been making a comeback of sorts in recent years, having done a special with Comedy Central in 2013, while announcing a new NBC series pilot this year. The fate of his career and lasting legacy have become increasingly uncertain in light of the new allegations, however.
When asked about the allegations during an interview on Saturday, Cosby remained silent, and only shook his head.
After the interview, his attorney provided a statement that said "decade-old, discredited allegations against Mr. Cosby have resurfaced. The fact that they are being repeated does not make them true. Mr. Cosby doesn't not intend to dignify these allegations with any comment."
