Former MLB relief pitcher John Rocker could have used some relief on "Survivor" this week as he botched physical challenges and played a pretty bad strategic game, too.
On top of that, Rocker apparently hasn’t been learning about politically correct language. When he was asked by show host Jeff Probst what it was like to lose a challenge to his girlfriend, Rocker said, “Um, remove the friend part; I'm losing to a girl. I just got beat by a girl."
As
SB Nation said, “Nice, John. Nice.”
EW assessed Rocker’s play on this week’s "Survivor" episode as erratic, and writer Dalton Ross called his play “some of the most schizophrenic game play I’ve ever seen.”
“It’s not surprising, actually,” Ross wrote. “Rocker has freely stated that he was not a fan of the show and was recruited to appear. So should he really be expected to understand how this game operates? Actually, now that I think about it… YES! YES HE SHOULD! Because this is basic logic and personal skills we're talking about.”
Rocker’s play — and comment about losing to a girl — riled up some people online.
This person predicted trouble on the show before the first episode even aired last week:
SB Nation’s David Roth did an article before the show started, too, with his predictions on what would happen, including pointing out numerous options in which racist comments Rocker made during his baseball career would cause him to get booted off the island.
