A Johnny Manziel video from the Dallas hotel where the Cleveland Browns quarterback allegedly assaulted former girlfriend Colleen Crowley last month is now in the hands of police as they weigh whether to file charges.

"Detectives have continued communicating with the complainant, interviewed witnesses, and received medical records from the complainant, as well as obtained video from surveillance cameras," Dallas Police Major Midge Boyle said Saturday, according to WFAA-TV. "As of today, there has been no determination as to what charge — if any — will be filed against Mr. Manziel."

Police didn’t release any details about the footage, but it's from the Hotel ZaZa, where Crowley claims the assault began, ESPN reported.

Crowley said in an affidavit that Manziel dragged her into a car and struck her so hard it ruptured her eardrum, according to ESPN.

"He hit me with his open hand on my left ear for jumping out of the car," she said in the police affidavit, WFAA-TV reported. "I realized immediately that I could not hear out of that ear, and I still cannot today, two days later."

After the alleged assault, Crowley obtained a protective order that restricts Manziel from seeing her for two years, WFAA said, adding that the case could go before a grand jury.

The incident sparked a Twitter exchange about the merits of the case between two prominent Dallas attorneys: Toby Shook, a defense attorney and former prosecutor, and Pete Schulte, defense attorney and former police officer, The Dallas Morning News noted.
