Kate Upton has been named Model of the Year after taking the industry by storm in 2013 and proving that being a model isn’t just about taking pretty pictures.
This year Upton, 21, scored her second Sports Illustrated swimsuit cover, landed on the cover of major fashion publications like Vogue, Elle, and Vanity Fair, got asked to prom via a fan's YouTube invitation, appeared in commercials and marketing campaigns, and shot her film debut — a cameo in the upcoming Cameron Diaz romantic comedy "The Other Woman."

Upton will receive her award Wednesday at the 10th annual Style Awards in New York City ahead of New York's Fashion Week. The awards will be televised Sept. 14 on CNN.
The model most recently appeared on Vanity Fair's 100th anniversary October cover.
Upton faced some criticism when she first emerged on the modeling scene in 2011 from bloggers who called her fat. She said she had to learn to deal with the scrutiny.
"For girls there’s always pressure,"
Upton told New York magazine's fashion site The Cut back in February. "Even if I was in college, or if I was doing a different job. Anywhere in life, for girls there’s pressure to keep your weight and to keep yourself feeling and looking good. So, for me to do that in the public eye is definitely a lot, but I have to have the right outlook on it... If someone feels confident in their body, it should all work out. At least that's what I think."
