Comedian Kathy Griffin confirmed to Access Hollywood on Tuesday that she had been asked to replace Joan Rivers on E! Network's "Fashion Police," but said she doesn't know if the show is the right fit for her.

"Fashion Police," talk and comedy fare that targets celebrity fashion, was a Joan Rivers staple that also featured Giuliana Rancic and Kelly Osbourne. It had been on E! since 2010 but has been on hiatus since Rivers' death in September. The comedian's daughter Melissa Rivers was one of the executive producers and a guest host.

Speaking to Access Hollywood at the Beverly Hills' "Make Equality Reality" function, Griffin confirmed that she was offered Rivers' spot after her death but felt uneasy about accepting it.

"I don't know if the situation is correct at this time for me or right for me at this time," Griffin told Access Hollywood.

Griffin said that that for the show to work, it would need someone with Rivers' sharp tongue and edge who would not be afraid to offend.

"I really hope they continue in the spirit of Joan's work," said Griffin. "She brought a fearlessness and a brand of humor into our homes that we really need."

In September, Griffin strongly pushed back on rumors that she was asking about Rivers job while the star was still in a coma, according to the New York Post's Page Six.

"I would never take Joan's job," Griffin said in an interview with Larry King, according to the Post, adding that she had dinner with Rivers two weeks before she died. "Joan and I had a different style. She absolutely was my mentor for sure, but no."

Joan Rivers went into the Yorkville Endoscopy clinic for what was expected to be a routine throat procedure on Aug. 28, but went into cardiac arrest and was rushed into a nearby hospital where she died Sept. 4.

Last month, Melissa Rivers hired one of the nation's top law firms Gair, Gair, Conason, Steigman, Mackauf, Bloom & Rubinowitz in New York City to advise her on her next steps.
