Kim Jong Un's government isn't laughing at Seth Rogen and James Franco's comedy about assassinating the North Korean leader.
"The Interview" is a movie about two talk show hosts, played by Franco and Rogen, who get the opportunity to interview Kim, but are asked by the U.S. government to be undercover agents. What’s more, they’re supposed to assassinate Kim.

“There is a special irony in this storyline as it shows the desperation of the U.S. government and American society," said Kim Myong-chol, an
“unofficial spokesman” for the North Korean regime, The Telegraph reported. “A film about the assassination of a foreign leader mirrors what the U.S. has done in Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria and Ukraine. And let us not forget who killed [President John F.] Kennedy – Americans. In fact, President [Barack] Obama should be careful in case the U.S. military wants to kill him as well.”
The Telegraph also reported a government spokesperson said Kim would probably watch the movie. That got a tweet from Rogen.
Although the movie is presented as a comedy, some online think Rogen and Franco should have looked elsewhere for their jokes. On IMDb, one person wondered how the concept of killing another nation’s leader got a pass in Hollywood.
"I think there will be so many controversies around the movie that it will cease to be funny in any way," a commenter wrote.
But another thought people were making too much of it.
"That's what's so great about the USA, we might have a lot of problems, but crushing artistic freedom isn't one of them. … And seeing as how this film is from the same guys who did 'Pineapple Express,' I seriously doubt anybody is going to feel threatened by it," the commenter wrote.
