Lady Gaga hosted "SNL" for the first time this weekend and belted out a few songs in a "Saturday Night Live" episode rated as being one of this season's best.
Deadline said Gaga's episode came in just one-tenth behind the season premiere, hosted by Tina Fey, and the Miley Cyrus episode.

Entertainment Weekly called the star a “down to earth goofball,” and said that side of her personality showed up onstage at "SNL."
“And happily, last night viewers mostly got the silly theater kid and not the art-house provocateur, which led to an overall enjoyable 90 minutes that, while not always laugh-out-loud hilarious, was consistently amusing,” wrote EW’s Erin Strecker.
The pop star poked fun at herself, saying archly in one sketch, “I think people who are trying too hard with their outfits are maybe hiding something.”
In another sketch, Lady Gaga took a gander at the future, playing herself a long time from now when nobody recognizes her. Futilely, she sang parts of her songs to her building superintendent, trying to get him to recognize her.
The Huffington Post pointed out that Gaga “dialed it down” to host "SNL," taming some of her flamboyant personality that caused her to overact her parts in previous shows when she was on as the musical talent.
The Post picked their favorite sketch as the Fourth Grade Talent Show, where the parents sat in the audience, acting out their child’s dance routine. “It feels like something that Will Ferrell and Cheri Oteri would do together and I mean that as the highest compliment,” Post writer Mike Ryan wrote.
Gaga's most shocking moments came during her first musical performance of the evening, performing some overtly sexual moves with R. Kelly while singing "Do What U Want."
Lady Gaga’s success on "SNL" comes on the heels of the rousing failure of her most recent album. ARTPOP may lose as much as $25 million, and the
Hollywood 5 reported that as many as 50 employees may get laid off as a result.
