Leonardo DiCaprio 'Despicable,' Says Exec in Hacked Sony Email

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio was called "despicable" by Sony Pictures' Amy Pascal for dropping out of a biopic on Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, according to one in a continuing stream of hacked emails from the entertainment giant's co-chairman.

The email exchange between Pascal and "Steve Jobs" producer Mark Gordon was just a fraction of a trove of private documents hackers dumped into public view over the past two weeks connected with the movie studio, according to The Daily Beast.

In the emails involving DiCaprio's connection with "Steve Jobs," Pascal and Gordon appear to express outrage over the five-time Academy Award nominee's decision to leave the project, noted the Beast.

Michael Fassbender, who was nominated for an Oscar last year for "12 Years a Slave," was later slated in the movie's title role written by Aaron Sorkin.

"Was this about the deal… or did he just change his mind," Gordon wrote Pascal in an email on Sept. 18. Pascal responded, "The latter."

"Horrible behavior," Gordon followed and Pascal added in a following email, "Actually despicable," according to the Beast.

Sorkin accused the American media in a New York Times op-ed Sunday of assisting the hackers by publishing the released information.

"I understand that news outlets routinely use stolen information," Sorkin wrote. "That's how we got the Pentagon Papers, to use an oft-used argument. But there is nothing in these documents remotely rising to the level of public interest of the information found in the Pentagon Papers."

"Do the emails contain any information about Sony breaking the law? No. Misleading the public? No," Sorkin continued. "Acting in direct harm to customers, the way the tobacco companies or Enron did? No. Is there even one sentence in one private email that was stolen that even hints at wrongdoing of any kind? Anything that can help, inform or protect anyone?"

Pascal apparently had a much nicer exchange with Ryan Gosling's talent manager Ilene Feldman, according to Variety's take on an email exchange between the two on Oct. 3.

"Ryan absolutely loved you," Feldman wrote to Pascal in one email that day. "Said it was like speed dating because he was late after hitting every wrong gate on the lot ... He really wants to do something with you."
