Loch Ness Monster Now a Travel Option for Google Maps Users

The Loch Ness monster is now a form of transportation on Google Maps, after the search giant unveiled new "Easter Eggs," or hidden functionality features.

In Google's latest way to amuse users, the online service has provided Nessie as one of several ways to get across the UK, along with dragons and royal carriage rides, International Business Times reported. The "Easter Eggs" were included in the latest iteration of Maps that allows users to search for every bus, train, tram, and ferry available.

According to Google Maps, it only takes a mere 25-minute ride on the mythical creature Nessie to get from Urquhart Castle to Fort Augusta in Scotland. In another example, a flight from the Brecon Beacons to Snowden by dragon lasts just 21 minutes, much quicker than the more than three-hour car ride.

Should a ride in a royal carriage be appealing, an hour and 18-minute jaunt between Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle is available, a faster trip than the train ride, according to Metro U.K.

This isn't Google's first foray into humorous travel options. In 2010, travelers were told to "jetski across the Pacific Ocean" for 782 kilometers, as part of a journey from Japan to China.

Other gags have instructed people to swim the Atlantic Ocean to get from New York to Paris. Google also once included a joke that would transform the moon's surface into cheese when users zoomed in too close.
