New Zealand-born teen musician Lorde announced Monday that her parents, Vic O'Connor and Sonja Yelich, got engaged at Niagara Falls after three decades together.
Lorde Tweeted about the proposal on Monday.

O'Connor, a civil engineer, and Yelich, a poet, and have
been together for 30 years and have five children together, according to TVNZ.
In a subsequent tweet, Lorde, who was born in 1996 as Ella Yelich-O'Connor, referenced her hit song “Royals,” which includes the lyrics "I've never seen a diamond in the flesh.”
The 17-year-old musician began writing music at age 12.
Her parents have supported her and helped her balance her career with her school work.
“My parents are really onto it; they know what young people need. My mum takes my iPhone off me at night, because I need to do homework and sleep, otherwise I'd spend all night on Facebook and Instagram,”
Lorde told Interview Magazine.
Lorde performed at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto on Sunday, where she won International Video of the Year.
