Mariah Carey is being slammed on social media for her live Rockefeller Center tree lighting singing performance on Wednesday which came,
according to E! News, after she stood up a production crew that waited for hours the night before to tape her performance.
Overall, NBC's "Christmas in Rockefeller Center" wasn't a good experience for the award-winning singer and former "American Idol" judge,
reported TMZ. The network initially dumped her from the program when she showed up three hours late for the performance on Tuesday which was to be taped and shown Wednesday, and then there was her singing.
TMZ reported that Carey was delayed on Tuesday because she was in discussions with her lawyers trying to reach a divorce settlement with husband Nick Cannon, but E! News said sources told them that Carey worried about the weather's effect on her voice.
According to TMZ, NBC changed its mind and decided to go with Carey live on Wednesday.
The Wrap reported that Carey opted to sing "All I Want for Christmas Is You" live Wednesday instead of lip-synching to a pre-recording to what the celebrity website said turned out to be a "messy rendition of her own Christmas classic."
Carey was showered with criticism on social media after the performance.
The singer apologized to fans on Twitter.
