Marissa Mayer, the CEO of Yahoo, reportedly kept a room full of advertising executives waiting for nearly two hours last week when she overslept for a meeting in Cannes, France.

Mayer, 39, was in town for the Cannes Lion advertising festival and was expected to meet with execs from MillerCoors, Chobani, and Mondelez International at a dinner hosted by Interpublic Group of Cos. on June 17, according to the Wall Street Journal.

But, instead, Mayer, showed up nearly two hours late, claiming she had fallen asleep.

"If it were an investor meeting, a board meeting or a potential acquisition, I am sure she or someone from her team would have woken her up," one of the executives at the dinner told the Journal. "It is another instance where she demonstrated that she doesn’t understand the value of clients, ad revenue or agencies."

She was so late that IPG Chief Executive Michael Roth reportedly left before she made it there, the source told the newspaper.

Mayer later told Bloomberg that she had apologized to those in attendance.

"I feel like our ad story is really resonating and I'm really quite happy with it," she said. "I think the dinner is unfortunate how much attention it’s gotten. I was late. I apologized to IPG at the time and in no way meant for it to be a slight to them."

Business Insider's Nick Carlson appeared on CNBC Tuesday to discuss Mayer's alleged pattern of lateness.
