Mark Ballas, the pro dancer who partnered with Candace Cameron Bure this past season on "Dancing With the Stars," was hospitalized this week after getting into a car accident in Los Angeles.

Ballas, 28, was reportedly making a right on an L.A. street Monday when a speeding vehicle hit the back right side of his car. He was taken to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center to be checked out for neck pain and whiplash, and was prescribed medication, TMZ reported.

Bure later tweeted that she had spoken to her friend briefly.

The pair came in third last season on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," losing the Mirrorball trophy to Olympic ice dancer Meryl Davis and her pro partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy.

There was some question as to whether Ballas would even be able to compete on the show's May finale after he seriously injured his shoulder during a rehearsal.

"Mark was seriously injured during camera blocking," a "DWTS" spokesperson told People magazine at the time. "His shoulder popped out during a lift and he was taken by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated and released. It's unclear whether or not he'll be able to perform on Monday's show."

But Ballas toughed it out and was able to dance in the finale.
