Mel Gibson will not be charged in connection to allegations that he shoved a female photographer after she snapped pictures of the Academy Award winner and his girlfriend on the streets of Sydney last month.
On Thursday, the New Wales police stated that its office will not pursue charges against the actor after Kristi Miller, a photographer with Australia's Daily Telegraph, accused him of pushing and verbally abusing her outside of a
movie theater on Aug. 23, The Telegraph U.K. reported.
"At this stage, based on the evidence gathered, no formal action will be taken," New Wales police said in a statement.
Miller, 39, told the Daily Telegraph that she believes Gibson's behavior was unacceptable.
"I don't want sympathy," she said. "I'm not injured but I do think that his behavior is appalling and I don't want to pull the female card but I am a female and I don't think a male should speak to a female that way. I will be teaching my son not to speak to a female the way that Mel Gibson spoke to me."
Gibson, 59, was in Sydney to direct "Hacksaw Ridge," a World War II-era film. The entertainer was with his girlfriend Rosalind Ross, 24, when Miller took pictures of him.
"Mel Gibson has totally denied from the onset these disgraceful allegations," said Christopher Murphy, an attorney for the actor/director, according to The Telegraph. "He is now satisfied that the police, after speaking to witnesses and reviewing CCTV footage and other evidence, have found that there is no substance to the claim."
Miller said, though, that Gibson lost it after leaving the Palace Verona Cinema with Ross.
"I took a photo of Mel and his girlfriend and when I turned around he shoved my back really hard," she said, according to The Telegraph. "It shocked me because I wasn't expecting it. I don't know if it was his hands or elbow.
"He was spitting in my face as he was yelling at me, calling me a dog, saying I'm not even a human being and I will go to hell. It was non-stop, he didn't even breathe," Miller charged.
