Meryl Streep played Donald Trump alongside Christine Baranski, who portrayed Hillary Clinton, during the annual Shakespeare in the Park Public Theater Gala in New York City on Monday.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Streep donned a fat suit, a messy blond hairdo, and what appeared to be a self-applied tan for her comedic portrayal of the presumptive Republican presidential nominee.

Streep, a three-time Academy Award winner, and Baranski, who starred together in the movie "Mamma Mia," performed a twist on the song "Brush Up Your Shakespeare" from the Cole Porter Broadway musical "Kiss Me, Kate."

"In the musical, the song is performed by gangsters who advise men that the way to woo women is by reciting Shakespeare," wrote BuzzFeed News.

"You'll let me know, why all the women say no," Streep sang as Trump, altering the lyrics.

"Brush up your Shakespeare and the women you will wow," Baranski responded in song. "Just declaim a few lines from 'Othello,' and they'll think you're a hell of a fella."

The New York Daily News wrote that the annual event pays homage to renowned playwright William Shakespeare. Streep, who won an Academy Award for playing British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 2012, professed her admiration for Trump's likely Democratic opponent Hillary Clinton that same year at the Women in the World Summit, wrote Politico.

Many fans tweeted about Streep's performance.
