First lady Michelle Obama joined Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show" Thursday for her second edition of “Mom Dancing” with destined-to-be hits like “Getting a Bag from Your Collection of Plastic Bags Under the Sink.”
Fallon, dressed as a woman that looked remarkably like comedian Tina Fey, swiveled his hips and knocked the air for "Knock, Knock" and "Shush and Tush."
The pair were honoring the five-year anniversary of the Let’s Move! program launched by Michelle Obama in 2010 to fight the epidemic of childhood obesity.
“Thirty years ago, most people led lives that kept them at a healthy weight. Kids walked to and from school every day, ran around at recess, participated in gym class, and played for hours after school before dinner,” the
Let’s Move! website explains about the push to get people moving.
Fallon and Obama certainly did their share of moving Thursday night, but Obama has been boogying across TV screens for several weeks to promote Let’s Move! and a new focus, Gimme Five.
“In honor of the fifth anniversary, I’ve issued this challenge and I’ve called it Gimme Five,” Obama told Ellen DeGeneres two weeks ago.
Using the hashtag #GimmeFive, people are encouraged to list ways they’re living a healthier lifestyle in the last five years, or just offer up five exercises. Across the Internet, the tips are pouring in as well as examples of healthy activities.
Fallon and Obama’s athletic rendition of Mom Songs drew its own crowd of fans. On YouTube, one person wrote, “Honestly whatever you think of Obama's politics you cannot deny that him and Michelle are the coolest president/first lady combo ever.”
