Mike Ditka Falls Asleep on Live TV During ESPN Show (Video)

By    |   Tuesday, 31 December 2013 06:29 AM EST

Mike Ditka, former NFL coach for the Chicago Bears and New Orleans Saints, fell asleep on live TV over the weekend during ESPN's "Sunday NFL Countdown" pregame show.

As fellow panelists Chris Berman, Keyshawn Johnson, Tom Jackson, and Cris Carter launched into a dissection of the New York Jets and Miami Dolphins matchup, Ditka, 74, appeared to doze off.

Luckily, Johnson gave him a nudge and he collected himself and perked up.

It's not the first time a personality has dozed off live on the air. Back in May, actor Morgan Freeman snoozed during an early morning interview while promoting his movie, "Now You See Me."

Sports radio host Mike Francesca also infamously fell asleep during a 2012 interview, but insisted he was exhausted, overworked, and just simply "closed his eyes" for a moment.

Ditka has not publicly addressed his on-air napping.
