NBC Slammed for Airing Kris Jenner Interview Over 9/11 Moment of Silence

NBC is being sharply criticized for airing an interview with Kardaashian mom Kris Jenner on the “Today” show instead of participating in the 9/11 moment of silence.

While other networks covered the solemn commemoration in Washington, D.C. and New York, NBC showed Savannah Guthrie asking Jenner about her on-camera breast augmentation.

NBC continues to justify the decision. A spokesperson for the network indicated the following in a statement: “The ‘Today’ show dedicated a considerable amount of time to September 11th coverage this morning throughout the entire show.”

The programming decision resulted in thousands of expressions of indignation on social media sites.

“How is NBC Today marking the 11th anniversary of the moment the first plane hit? By interviewing Kris Kardashian. #NBCFail #understatement,” one Twitter post read.

Some are even suggesting a “Today” show boycott. “Anyone care to join me in boycotting “The Today Show”? a tweet read.

The “Today” show did feature extensive 9/11 coverage during other parts of the show and did air the moment of silence during its West Coast broadcast.

NBC’s local affiliate, WNBC-4, left the “Today” show and instead aired its own coverage to commemorate the victims of the 9/11 attack.
