ABC is looking to rebound after falling to fourth place in the cable network wars with its show "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD," which is now leading the network's Tuesday night lineup.

"SHIELD," the first series from Marvel since the company was acquired by Disney, is expected to do well — even opposite CBS' "NCIS." Those viewers will then carry over to ABC's comedy "The Goldbergs" at 9 p.m., executives say.

"The loud and likable 'Goldbergs' should draw more men than the typical ABC comedy and provide a clear alternative to Fox's 'New Girl,'" Variety pointed out.

Other than to make "SHIELD" a hit, ABC has a few other goals, like revitalizing “Dancing With the Stars” in its new format and finding another comedy hit.

TV.com's Tim Surrette said that ABC will still do just fine with staples like "Modern Family" and "Grey's Anatomy." There will be a one-hour premiere of "Modern Family" on Wednesday, Sept. 25, and the new comedy "Super Fun Night" joins the evening the following week, on Wednesday, Oct. 2.

"Grey's Anatomy" will have a two-hour season premiere on Thursday, Sept. 26, which pushes back the premiere of "Scandal" to Thursday, Oct. 3. "Once Upon a Wonderland" will be the network's 8 p.m. primetime show on Thursdays starting Oct. 10.

Variety wrote “Wonderland,” a spinoff from the series "Once Upon A Time," has a better chance at success Thursday than last season’s "Last Resort" and "Zero Hour," which would help the potent 9-11 p.m. hours.
