Obama to Attend Lavish Beyoncé & Jay-Z Party

By    |   Tuesday, 18 September 2012 01:05 PM EDT

The re-election campaign of President Barack Obama repeatedly characterizes GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney as being wealthy and out of touch.

Yet tonight the president will attend a New York event hosted by celebrities Beyoncé and Jay-Z, which will include an opulent display in the form of an 18-foot tower of gold-bottled French champagne.

Obama will speak to the affluent elite in the main room at Jay-Z’s 40/40 nightclub. Theatrically placed next to him will be the custom designed tower comprised of 350 bottles of the high-priced champagne.

The tower of the bubbly alcoholic beverage has been fashioned by Jeffrey Beers, with Beers enlisting Jay-Z’s favorite brand of champagne, Armand de Brignac, which typically carries a price tag of $800-per-bottle.

Labeled the “Ace of Spades” by hip-hoppers and the nightlife crowd, the brand received the designation because of its unique gold label in the shape of a spade.

“It’s floor-to-ceiling gold bottles in the entire space. It’s beautiful — breathtaking,” a 40/40 representative told The Post. “It’s the first thing you see when you walk in.”

The campaign has indicated that there will be about 100 party attendees who will pay $40,000-per-person.

The president will speak to 200 donors at a $12,500-per-family reception at the Waldorf prior to the Beyonce & Jay-Z bash.

If the numbers hold up, the Obama campaign will take in more than $6 million.
