A two-plane collision in Detroit damaged the wing of an American Airlines aircraft and the tail of a Southwest Airlines jet Wednesday morning, but luckily no one was hurt in the incident.

The collision at the Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport in Romulus, Michigan, took place at 6:07 a.m. as the Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 was being de-iced before takeoff, according to the Detroit Free Press. The American Airlines Boeing 737 was being directed to the same de-icing pad at the time.

Wayne County Airport Authority spokeswoman Erica Donerson told the Free Press that officials from the National Transportation Safety Board and the airport's technicians are investigating the incident.

A Southwest Airlines representative confirmed to CBS Detroit that Flight 9 was involved in the taxiway mishap, and the airline was attempting to rebook passengers trying to get to Dallas Love Field.

"Southwest Airlines Flight 9 was in the process of being de-iced this morning at Detroit Metropolitan Airport when an aircraft belonging to another carrier came into contact with the Southwest aircraft's tail area," the company's statement said.

"There are no reports of injuries, and the Southwest aircraft is now out of service for maintenance . . . We appreciate the patience of our customers as we work diligently to get them safely to their final destinations," it continued.

The American Airlines jet was carrying passengers from Flight 1241, which was reportedly heading to Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, according to Flightaware.com.

Some passengers shared their photos of the incident on Twitter.
