Tara Palmer-Tompkinson, Prince Charles’ goddaughter, was arrested Saturday at Heathrow Airport after she reportedly threw a temper-tantrum, throwing her coat and screaming.
“The socialite swore at officers and tore out her hair extensions in fury before she was handcuffed by eight armed police and led away on Saturday afternoon,”
the Daily Mail said, quoting sources.
She then returned to the airport a few hours later to catch a different flight, headed for Zurich, the Mail said.
The Sun reported that Prince Charles' goddaughter was “nicked by 8 gun cops” when she became enraged and even pulled out her hair extensions.
It was reported Palmer-Tomkinson was upset because she was denied access to the first-class lounge. But she tweeted in response to someone asking if she was OK:
The former model and socialite was released without charges. A Scotland Yard spokesperson told the Daily Mail that police were called and that a “42-year-old woman … was taken to a west London police station and subsequently accepted a caution.”
The Mail said Palmer-Tomkinson’s problems with drugs were “well-documented,” and referred to other interviews in which she said she had anxiety problems. At least one media report attributed the airport scene to a panic attack.
“She had completely lost all control and she was screaming at officers. They had no choice but to arrest for her own and everyone else’s safety,” a bystander at the airport told the Sun.
“I wasn’t drunk, there was no disorderly,” Palmer-Tomkinson told the Sun. “I was cautioned, I saw a doctor, they were nice to me."
