Is Reese Witherspoon too old to play Stevie Nicks in a film about the Fleetwood Mac chanteuse? While attending the Toronto premiere of her new documentary, "In Your Dreams," Nicks hinted that the 37-year-old Oscar-winner (and new mom) just might be over the hill.
Even though there aren’t any known plans in the works for such a biopic, that’s not stopping the singer/songwriter from casting it.
During an interview with ET Canada, Nicks said of Witherspoon, “I've already told [Reese] she’s almost too old.” She went on to add “I love her, but she's like, 'I could play your mother.' I'm like 'O.K.’”
Nicks will be 65 in May.

Nicks didn’t indicate what young(er) starlet she envisions portraying her on the silver screen, should a film even get off the ground. But Nicks might want to reconsider Witherspoon given her track record for portraying musicians.
The actress earned an Oscar (not to mention a Golden Globe, Screen Actors Guild award, Teen Choice Award, People’s Choice award and a host of other accolades) for her critically-acclaimed portrayal of June Carter Cash in the 2005 mega-hit Walk the Line.
To prepare for the role, Witherspoon learned to sing and went on to perform all her own vocals in the movie in front of a live audience. So it’s safe to assume Witherspoon has the chops to emulate Nicks’ mystically-infused trademark mumble.
Ironically, Nicks didn’t think Witherspoon too old to appear in the “Dreams” documentary that chronicles the recording of her album by the same name. (See Nicks and Witherspoon side by side in trailer video below.) “In Your Dreams” is the first solo album the singer has put out in 10 years.
One thing is certain, Lindsey Lohan probably won’t be playing Nicks should a film become a reality. In 2011, the troubled former teen star expressed interest in portraying the songbird on the silver screen. Nicks’ reply: No way!

“That's never going to happen unless she cleans up her life and becomes the great actress I feel she can be," Nicks, a self-admitted former drug addict who has made two trips to rehab, told CNN. "Everybody thinks I hate her, and it's not that at all. I was completely messed up for a long time and I got it together.”
