Renee Zellweger Looks like She Was 'Hit With a Shovel of Botox'

By    |   Tuesday, 05 November 2013 10:36 AM EST

Renee Zellweger hit the red carpet twice this past week, debuting a new man and a new, seemingly surgically enhanced look that had Twitter users dumbfounded. As one put it, she looked as though she'd been "hit with a shovel of Botox."

Zellweger, 44, stepped out in New York at an Armani event last week and again on Saturday for a screening of the documentary "Long Shot: The Kevin Laue Story" in Burbank, Calif.."

Some speculate that the actress underwent plastic surgery procedures to boost her self-esteem after almost suffering a nervous breakdown when her 128-day marriage to country singer Kenny Chesney ended in 2005.

Editor's Note: ObamaCare Is Here. Are You Prepared?

"I made the biggest mistake of my personal life. I felt a failure," Zellweger told the Daily Mail of that time in her life. "I was looking for something else. I just needed to put acting aside. I needed to sit still and not to worry about the dresses and the hair and the travel and the interviews. I was going through huge life changes at the time. I wanted to stop and be a girl for a while."

The "Bridget Jones" star has found love again though in guitarist Doyle Bramall, whom she quietly began dating last year.
