Ronnie Claire Edwards, the actress best known for playing Corabeth Godsey in the 1971 series "The Waltons," has died at 83, according to her Facebook page on Wednesday.

Edwards appeared in more than 100 episodes of "The Waltons" as the wife of storekeeper Ike Godsey, accepting his marriage proposal after their first date, noted Variety. She reprised the role in two specials, "A Walton Wedding" in 1995 and "A Walton Easter" in 1997.

Her Facebook page had a simple note about her passing Wednesday.

Born in Oklahoma City in 1933, Edwards appeared in various series in her career, including "Dynasty," "Star Trek: The Next Generation," "Falcon Crest," "Dallas," and "Murder, She Wrote," according to TV Guide.

The Hollywood Reporter said she played a secretary in the 1985 NBC series "Sara," that also starred Geena Davis and Alfre Woodard. She also portrayed Aunt Dolly on the television series "Boone" from 1983-84.

Edwards' movie credits included "All the Way Home," in 1963, "Nobody's Fool" in 1986 and "The Dead Pool" in 1988, noted THR. She will be most remembered on "The Waltons," where her character first appeared during the third season, traveling to Walton's Mountain after the death of her mother, said THR.

''I'd be on the up escalator in a store and the people on the down would be shouting, 'We hate you.' I sure had the best role," Edwards said in a 1993 THR interview. "Because of all that treacle, what was needed was another spice. It was a fantastic part, the best character in the show. People still remember, 'No credit, Mr. Godsey,' and that just delights me. I am very fond of Corabeth.''
