Roseanne Barr on Trump: 'We Would Be So Lucky' to Have Him as President

Roseanne Barr said Tuesday that "we would be so lucky" if Donald Trump won the presidency "because then it wouldn't be Hillary" Clinton.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the comedian and star of the television sitcom "Roseanne" praised Trump, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, for financing his own campaign and went on to criticize Clinton for being beholden to money.

"[Clinton's] friends with everybody that gives her any goddamned money," Barr told the celebrity publication. "The fact is, you don't get to be the nominee without taking a lot of dirty money. You might be the best f***ing person on earth, but if you're hanging out with criminals who do bad things, that matters a lot."

"I like Trump because he financed his own [campaign]. That's the only way he could've gotten that nomination. Because nobody wants a president who isn't from Yale and Harvard and in the club. 'Cause it's all about distribution," she continued.

Barr — who ran her own presidential campaign in 2012, which was filmed for the new satirical documentary "Roseanne For President!" out July 1 — also criticized Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders for flying to Rome to meet Pope Francis in April. Sanders, a U.S. senator from Vermont, called the meeting at the time "extraordinary," according to CNN.

"They say they believe that people should take money out of politics and then, you know, they send their paycheck to Bernie and off he goes to hang out with the pope on a private jet on that money," Barr said. "The f***ing pope; are you s****ing me? And nobody just gives you money, they're not like, 'Here's $3 million, you look good, your hair is nice.' No. It's like, 'Hey, I'm giving you this money so you can pimp my products when it comes time.'"

Barr received 49,534 votes during the 2012 presidential election in which President Barack Obama won re-election against Republican candidate Mitt Romney, according to The Huffington Post.

"It's been fun to see how running influenced the narrative of both parties," Barr told The Hollywood Reporter. "Bernie, 'cause I ran on socialism and debt forgiveness and all that. (I ran on peace, though. He's kind of running on war.) He took a lot of my lines and so did Donald Trump. But (it's okay, because) all of our policies need to get some light on 'em."
