Rush Limbaugh said Ben Carson is "probably not" equipped to be president during a Fox News interview this past weekend, but praised Donald Trump and Ted Cruz unequivocally.
Limbaugh was pressed for his thoughts about Carson
by "Fox News Sunday’s" Chris Wallace.
"One of the most decent human beings in this country," Limbaugh said of Carson. "One of the finest men. I've met him, and the things that he's done, places he's come from, he's just one of the most decent human beings."
"Equipped to be president?" Wallace asked.
"Ben Carson equipped to be president? Um — probably not at this stage," Limbaugh replied.
"But any of these Republicans running would be better than Hillary or better than anything we’ve got now, so on that, based on that comparison, yes. I would vote for him if it was up to him and Hillary. Absolutely, without a doubt."
Questions about Carson's abilities when it comes to foreign policy have been raised throughout his campaign, however those concerns came to a head last week, when one of his advisors
spoke with The New York Times.
"Nobody has been able to sit down with him and have him get one iota of intelligent information about the Middle East," said Duane R. Clarridge, 83, a former CIA agent and a top adviser to the surgeon on national security.
Previously, when Carson himself appeared on "Fox News Sunday" earlier this month, he failed to say which countries he would call on to form a coalition force against the Islamic State.
Limbaugh also weighed in on the other Republican candidates, saying, "Donald Trump is, I think, doing a great service. He is showing that you do not have to fear attacks from the media -- Republicans do not have to fear from attacks from the media. He's showing you do not have to fear being politically correct or violating political correctness."
In speaking about Ted Cruz, he said, "Brilliant, just absolutely brilliant. And conservative through and through. Trustworthy, strong, confident, leader, and somebody in whom you can totally depend."
