Chamberlain’s San Francisco apartment was searched on Saturday, and investigators reportedly found explosive materials.
According to ABC7, Chamberlain detailed his struggles with depression in what appeared to be a suicide note posted to social media.
"This was a very dangerous and desperate person, I think you can tell from Facebook and social media posts attributed to him yesterday," said San Francisco police Chief Greg Suhr, ABC7 reported.

Friends of Chamberlain have started a crowd-funded legal defense fund.
"This is a railroading,"
Adriel Hampton told The San Francisco Chronicle. "This is a poor guy who wants to kill himself. They're harassing him. … I want people to know that this guy has a community. He's not just a crazy terrorist. He's obviously going through a crisis. I'm glad he was arrested and he's not dead. I thought he had killed himself."
Chamberlain worked in public relations and on local political campaigns, including Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsom's run for mayor.
Randy Bramblett, a friend of Chamberlain, described him as emotional.
"I've never seen him be violent, ever, but I would definitely say that maybe emotionally and mentally he was a little unstable," Bramblett told the AP.
