Baseball legend Sandy Koufax was in the Los Angeles Dodgers clubhouse Monday after the team sealed the National League West Division title, congratulating legend-on-the-rise pitcher Clayton Kershaw.
A Vine video posted by the Dodgers of the two hugging and talking shows an example of the camaraderie born between two people who love and excel at America’s pastime. Before the game rolled around, sports announcers were comparing Kershaw to Koufax in numerous stories.

Kershaw talked to True Blue LA about the opportunity to meet Hall-of-Famer Koufax.
“He's just happy for us. Sandy is such a great guy. I think he genuinely cares about not only this team but kind of our well being,” Kershaw told True Blue. “I have a great relationship with him. I have a ton of respect for him. To get a hug and get a good job from a guy like that, from a guy that's been there, from a guy that's done this before and was the best at it for a long time is pretty special."
The Dodger win was a time of joy, in general, for Kershaw and the team. Kershaw tweeted:
The Dodgers know the jewel they have in Kershaw and they made sure everyone was aware of what Koufax said about him with this tweet:
Dodgers fans – and fans of Kershaw – showed their team spirit online after Monday’s win over the Braves.
